Louisiana in World War II Teacher Professional Development Webinar
Cost: Free
How did Louisiana and Louisianans contribute to the Allied victory in World War II, and what was it like to live in Louisiana during wartime? Join Teacher Programs & Curriculum Coordinator Joshua Goodman, PhD, to explore new tools for teaching about this critical era in Louisiana history. The webinar will introduce the Museum’s new curriculum guide on this topic, which utilizes artifacts, personal stories, and primary sources from the Museum’s newest special exhibit, The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II. The guide contains essays, lesson plans, and access to digital media to help you explain how everyday Louisianans experienced the war, how all parts of Louisiana contributed to victory, and how the war permanently transformed the state. The program will close with an in-depth photo analysis activity and Q&A with Dr. Goodman.
This webinar is perfect for 8 – 12th grade teachers, but all are welcome. Teachers participating live will receive a letter certifying their involvement for professional development credit. All registrants will receive the e-version of The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II curriculum guide.
