Ride Details

Offered Saturdays only (and some Fridays seasonally). Limited availability. Advance ticket purchase highly recommended.

Children under 12 are not allowed to ride the boat.

Children 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

This entire experience (PT-305 presentation, preboarding safety preparedness, and ride) lasts approximately 90 minutes.

$350 per person; $305 for seniors, children 12 years and older, military, and Museum Members.

The boat is not ADA accessible.

Close Quarters Tours

Offered at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance to ensure your spot on the boat.

Lasts approximately 90 minutes.

$25 plus tax per person; $20 for seniors, students, and military; $18 for Museum Members.

School and group rates are available on request.

PT-305 is not ADA accessible; the Close Quarters Tour requires descending and ascending a ladder. 

Children 8 and under are not allowed on PT-305.

Private Event Rentals

Host a private charter, deck tour, or open house at PT-305, a WWII combat vetran patrol-torpedo boat, originally built by Higgins Industries, fully restored over nearly a decade by Museum volunteers. It is now housed on Lake Pontchartrain.

Daytime and evening event options available for up to 120 guests.

Onsite catering options are available.

Children under 12 are not allowed in the boat house.

Take US-90 BUS East and cross the Crescent City Connection into downtown New Orleans. After passing the Smoothie King Center on your right, take I-10 East toward Slidell. Continue onI-10 East, taking exit 241 for Morrison Road. Continue on Morrison, taking a right on Downman Road. You will eventually come to a seawall, where you will turn right onto Stars and Stripes Boulevard. Follow Stars and Stripes to the end and follow signage directing you where to park.

From Metairie/Baton Rouge

Take I-10 East from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. At the I-10/610 split, stay on I-610 East, merging onto I-10 East to Morrison Road. Take exit 241 for Morrison Road. Continue on Morrison, taking a right on Downman Road. You will eventually come to a seawall, where you will turn right onto Stars and Stripes Boulevard. Follow Stars and Stripes to the end and follow signage directing you where to park.

From the North

Follow I-55 South and then take I-10 East. Follow I-10 East for 23.6 miles. At the I-10/610 split, stay on I-610 East, merging onto I-10 East to Morrison Road. Take exit 241 for Morrison Road. Continue on Morrison, taking a right on Downman Road. You will eventually come to a seawall, where you will turn right onto Stars and Stripes Boulevard. Follow Stars and Stripes to the end and follow signage directing you where to park.

From North Shore of Lake Ponchartrain

Drive the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway south to I-10 East. At the I-10/610 split, stay on I-610 East, merging onto I-10 East to Morrison Road. Take exit 241 for Morrison Road. Continue on Morrison, taking a right on Downman Road. You will eventually come to a seawall, where you will turn right onto Stars and Stripes Boulevard. Follow Stars and Stripes to the end and follow signage directing you where to park.

 

*If using GPS, please be aware that some systems take you to the marina entrance, which is not specifically where PT-305 is located. Please follow the signs leading to the boathouse after you reach the marina entrance.

FAQs

Where is PT-305 located?

PT-305 is not located on The National WWII Museum campus, but in her home waters of Lake Pontchartrain in a custom-designed boathouse at Lakeshore Landing, 6705 Stars and Stripes Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70126. Please refer to the directions page on this website or contact us at 504-528-1944 x 485 for assistance with directions.

Do I have to purchase my tickets in advance, and if so, how far in advance?

Tickets for PT-305 tours and rides must be purchased in advance. You may purchase tickets online or contact Specialty Sales at 504-528-1944 x 402.

What is the cancellation policy?

Once purchased, tickets are nonrefundable. If an emergency occurs, cancellations require a three-week notice.  

What do I wear?

We recommend sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing. Flip-flops or heels are not allowed. We recommend wearing sunscreen, as PT-305 does not provide cover. Ponchos are available for purchase on-site. 

What safety precautions are taken?

There will be an informative safety video shown in the boathouse for both PT-305 tours and rides, as well as further safety guidance once aboard PT-305. Life vests provided by the PT-305 crew will be worn by each guest.

What is the minimum age?

Rides: Children must be 12 years or older to ride on PT-305. Children ages 12–17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tours: Children must be 8 years or older to tour PT-305. 

When should I arrive? 

We ask guests to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their scheduled ride or tour. 

May I take pictures during my ride or tour?

Riders are required to remain seated at all times. Hands must be free to hold on to safety handles. PT-305 ride and tour participants are always welcome to photograph the vessel while docked within the boathouse.

What if weather and/or water conditions don't allow for safe operation of PT-305?

Guests who have purchased ride tickets will be notified no less than two hours prior to scheduled ride time in the event weather or water conditions do not allow for safe operation of PT-305. Based on the area’s unpredictable weather patterns, you may experience a brief delay in the commencement of your ride. If you cannot participate on the alternately scheduled ride time, a full refund will be provided to the original form of payment used for ticket purchase. Tours will operate rain or shine as the vessel is fully covered within the PT-305 boathouse.
