In conjunction with the Museum’s newest special exhibit, SOLDIER | ARTIST: Trench Art in World War II, this program allows you to create your own punched copper luminary, joining the long legacy of making trench art, a type of folk art created by soldiers dating back to the 1800s. Using inspiration from WWII trench art, we will remake a copper sheet into a one-of-a-kind luminary. Let your fun shine as we transform simple materials into a glowing tribute to history and making with special guest and metal artist Rachel Shimpock!

Pre-registration for workshop kits is now closed. If you’d like to participate please download the Materials List and Templates ahead of time! Tune in via our Facebook page to follow along with artist Rachel Shimpock as she leads the workshop on Saturday, March 20th starting at 10am.
