Honoring Bob Hope’s lifelong dedication to troops and veterans, the Museum visits hospitalized heroes.
In the spirit of Bob Hope’s dedication to both hospitals and veterans, The National WWII Museum will partner with the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System and Help Heal Veterans to donate make-and-take WWII-era model vehicles to local hospitalized servicemembers. Additionally, the Museum’s Knit Your Bit program will invite local knitters to pass out scarves to veterans and their families.

In October 2018, The National WWII Museum, Commemorative Air Force, and Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation will host their fifth annual historic WWII aircraft show at New Orleans Lakefront Airport, honoring the legacy of the WWII generation and highlighting the mighty machines that contributed to Allied victory on air, sea, and land.
In October 2018, The National WWII Museum, Commemorative Air Force, and Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation will host their fifth annual historic WWII aircraft show at New Orleans Lakefront Airport, honoring the legacy of the WWII generation and highlighting the mighty machines that contributed to Allied victory on air, sea, and land.
The three-day festival, formerly known as WWII AirPower Expo, brings new experiences along with a new name. Additions include dockside tours on the Museum's fully restored PT-305; an expanded Kids Zone—complete with a challenge course, a rock-climbing wall, face-painting, hands-on history stations, and more; a Victory warbird Parade; an expanded selection of WWII-era military vehicles; a fashion show inside the James Wedell Hangar; and the Flight Line VIP Chalet, which moves to a location directly in the flight line of the soaring WWII warbirds.
