Barry Simon Presents “The Four Chaplains of the SS Dorchester

This lecture will take a look at the torpedoing and sinking of the SS Dorchester and the four American chaplains from different denominations who unselfishly sacrificed their own lives to save others during the sinking. Simon will also present a brief overview of submarines built in Wisconsin at Manitowoc, which were tested on Lake Michigan, then barged through the locks at Chicago, and then over to and down the Mississippi River, where they were partially rebuilt and recommissioned in New Orleans before sailing off to war.
