Innovator and business leader Jenny Craig has pledged $5 million to underwrite and support the efforts of The National WWII Museum’s Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy.

The National World War II Museum is officially going to the
dogs (and horses, mules and birds!) with the newest exhibit Loyal Forces: The Animals of World
War II. On display July 22 – October 17, 2010, the exhibit focuses on the animals employed and
encountered throughout World War II, from the Home Front to the Pacific. Loyal Forces will explore
another side of the war, and demonstrate how lessons learned then continue to help us today in the
utilization of animals and their unique abilities.

Marguerite Frances Hunold, a pioneering aerologist in the US Navy’s WAVES program during World War II, became the first woman in her field to serve in Alaska, where she helped shape naval aviation forecasting in one of the world’s most challenging weather environments.

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans has named Michael S. Bell, PhD (COL, USA, Ret.), as Executive Director of the Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy.

Dorothy Britt (later Mann) was one of only 1,100 women who trained as pilots with the WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots). Through artifacts from her service and stories of her experiences, she continues to inspire.
