During World War II, millions of African American servicemembers and Home Front workers played critical roles in securing Allied victory, while still facing discrimination at home. Scouts will learn about the adversity African Americans in the war effort overcame while taking inspiration from the courage and leadership of the men and women who served with the Tuskegee Airmen and the 6888th Postal Battalion. During the workshop, scouts will explore the Museum’s latest special exhibit, Fighting for the Right to Fight, with staff and curators.
Through this workshop, participants will meet some of the requirements of the Finding Common Ground Badge (Girl Scouts) and the Citizenship in Society Badge (Boy Scouts). This workshop is recommended for scouts ages 11 and up.
