In The National WWII Museum’s latest special exhibit, The Go for Broke Spirit: Legacy in Portraits, visitors have the opportunity to explore photographer Shane Sato’s portraits of Japanese American veterans of World War II and the stories of these men and women who risked their lives to serve their country, even in the face of prejudice and incarceration.

Join us, along with artist Eren K. Wilson, to discuss these portraits in depth and explore the Japanese art forms of anime and manga. Using inspiration from the exhibit’s portraits, participants will create their own anime-style self-portraits. Registration is required for this free event.

This workshop is limited to 25 participants. All art supplies, special exhibit access, and a reception with beer, wine, and light hors d’oeuvres are included with your FREE registration. About the Artist
Eren K. Wilson is an editorial illustrator, educator, and graphic novelist. They have taught high school, elementary school, and planned after-school activities. In 2018, their completed graphic novel Snowbird was published by Silver Sprocket. Their work has been published by The Center for Investigative Reporting, Outside Magazine, Penguin Random House, VICE Sports, the Louisiana Civil Justice Center, REI, Birthmark Doula Collective, ANTIGRAVITY Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Whole Foods Market.
