Missing Pilot Memorandum | FROM THE COLLECTION
Curator & Restoration Manager at The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Cory Graff, details the history of a memorandum belonging to United States Navy Methodist Chaplin Lyle Alfred Weed while aboard the USS Bennington. It lists seven pilots who went missing in combat. Weed was tasked with notifying their families of the unfortunate news. This is one of the artifacts you can find in the Museum’s final permanent exhibit hall, Liberation Pavilion.
Liberation Pavilion explores the end of World War II, the Holocaust, the postwar years, and how the war continues to impact our lives today.
