About the Photographer
Elliott Verdier is a French documentary photographer whose career has taken him to numerous countries across Central Asia, West Africa, and beyond. Rather than focus on breaking news or current events, Verdier turns toward a more reflective approach, embracing the contemplative process of the large-format analog camera. His work delves into the invisible yet universal aspects of human experience, exploring themes of memory, generational transmission, and determinism. Verdier’s work has earned him multiple awards and recognitions, as well as support from the French National Center for the Plastic Arts, among others. He collaborates regularly with the press, particularly The New York Times and Le Monde Magazine. Visit elliottverdier.com to learn more.

About the American Battle Monuments Foundation
The American Battle Monuments Foundation (ABMF), the nonprofit partner of the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), supports the preservation and commemoration of US military service abroad. The ABMC oversees 26 American military cemeteries and 31 memorials in 17 countries, honoring nearly 234,000 fallen service members. On June 6, 2024, marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day, ABMF and ABMC hosted over 200 World War II veterans at the Normandy American Cemetery. The poignant occasion was documented by photographer Elliott Verdier. Through remembrance and education, ABMF ensures these sacrifices are honored—then, now, and forever.
