Josh Schick presents Back in Blue: The Crew of PT-305

Join Curator Josh Schick as he discusses the history of PT-305 and how he and the Museum team helped preserve her story and bring her back to life. The 72-year journey of PT-305 started in Higgins Industries City Park Plant in New Orleans, followed by combat in the Mediterranean theater, and then postwar use as a civilian fishing vessel before she was returned to her wartime condition in New Orleans by a volunteer restoration crew. During the course of the physical restoration, considerable effort was put into restoring the story of PT-305, bringing back her unique identity and the stories of the men that lived aboard the 305. Join Josh in discussing the men and times aboard the fully restored PT-305.

Dinner with a Curator is an evening of dinner and history hosted by The American Sector Restaurant + Bar culinary team and The National WWII Museum professionals. Guests participate in discussion on a featured topic related to World War II which is interpreted through the Museum's collection and a theme-inspired four-course dinner paired with beverage specials.

A partnered program between The National WWII Museum and The Churchill Society of New Orleans

On March 18, The National WWII Museum hosts the 2017 Churchill Symposium, in partnership with the Churchill Society of New Orleans. This history symposium will bring scholars from across the globe to the Museum for a day of enriching lectures and insights, all focused on one of the most important figures in modern history—Winston Churchill.

As a special treat, guests can purchase an add-on ticket for an exclusive limited-seating dinner with the speakers. A delightful three-course meal prepared by chefs at The American Sector Restaurant + Bar will be paired with Symposium speakers at each table.

The National WWII Museum and the Southern Food and Beverage Museum invite you to explore 1940s foodways with WWII Museum Curator Kim Guise, who will discuss rationing, Victory Gardens, and Home Front efforts during World War II. Liz Williams, president and director of SoFAB, will lead a cooking demonstration of three recipes from wartime cookbooks in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn Air. Join us at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., enjoy a Happy Hour at Toups South, "The Blues Cat" cocktail from Cathead Vodka, and get a taste of WWII cuisine!
