Part Three: The Final Offenses and Legacy of Guadalcanal

Join Rob Citino, The National WWII Museum’s Samuel Zemurray Stone Senior Historian, to examine fascinating artifacts and oral histories from the Museum’s collection and immersive Guadalcanal: Green Hell gallery. Final US dominance over air, sea, and land made Japanese resupply by the Tokyo Express virtually impossible. After months of grueling combat in horrific conditions, the Japanese finally withdrew and surrendered the island of Guadalcanal in February 1943. Analyze the significance of Guadalcanal in the scope of World War II and its legacy 75 years later.
