This program is for individuals of all ages with special needs and their families to enjoy early access to the Museum with modifications to make the experience more sensory friendly.
The National WWII Museum is proud to bestow the 2021 American Spirit Award—its highest honor—along with the American Spirit Medallion, Silver Service Medallion and Billy Michal Student Leadership Award to individuals across the country who embody the American spirit through their extraordinary leadership and service.
On May 13, 2021, The National WWII Museum will host the Japanese American Experiences in World War II Electronic Field Trip that will take classrooms across the country on a virtual journey to explore this critical chapter of WWII and American history.
Opening on March 4, 2021, SOLDIER | ARTIST: Trench Art in World War II, the newest special exhibit at The National WWII Museum, explores the military pastime known as “trench art”—the creation of art, souvenirs and tools out of discarded materials and the waste of war.
The Museum is proud to feature one of its own, Dr. Steph Hinnershitz, to discuss her recently released book Japanese American Incarceration: The Camps and Coerced Labor during World War II, which places the forced removal and incarceration of approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II within a history of US prison labor and exploitation.
Students will learn about the brave men of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion and their extraordinary mission to help protect US soldiers during the D-Day Invasions on June 6, 1944.
