A New Orleans native, James Linn first became involved with the institution then known as The National D-Day Museum in 2001 as an eighth-grade volunteer on weekends and during the summer. Linn joined The National WWII Museum staff in 2014 and served as a Curator until 2020.

During World War II, 120,000 Japanese Americans attempted to adjust to their lives behind barbed wire at one of 10 incarceration camps—and this included encountering new food served in the mess halls.

During World War II, New Orleans legend Dave Bartholomew joined the US Army band that contributed to his musical success and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The National WWII Museum opens the John E. Kushner Restoration Pavilion on June 4, 2011.
