The Museum marked Memorial Day 2018 with midday music and a ceremony, then joined the national moment of silence at 3:00 p.m. All events took place in the US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center.
Master of ceremonies Bill Detweiler introduced the invited guests and welcomed Museum visitors—including several WWII veterans. Those in attendance were joined online by viewers tuning in via Livestream.com/nww2m and Facebook.

Ralph McIntyre and his son Terry, visiting from Baltimore. Mr. McIntyre, age 94, served in the US Navy in World War II aboard the USS Fleming, and fought in the Pacific theater campaigns for Guam, Saipan, Okinawa, and others.

Louis and Lesley DiRosa. Mr. DiRosa, of Metairie, Louisiana, served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II. "We couldn’t have thought of a better place to come to today than come here,” Lesley DiRosa said. “To give our sadness and our appreciation to these people who died for us.”

Museum volunteer Mary Wismer wore a photo of her father, Donald M. Wismer, who served with the Quartermaster Corps in the Pacific.
