Memorial Day at the Museum 2018

The Museum marked Memorial Day 2018 with midday music and a ceremony, then joined the national moment of silence at 3:00 p.m. All events took place in the US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center

Master of ceremonies Bill Detweiler introduced the invited guests and welcomed Museum visitors—including several WWII veterans. Those in attendance were joined online by viewers tuning in via Livestream.com/nww2m and Facebook

5:15 – National Anthem, US Marine Corps Forces Reserve Band Brass Quintet.

7:18 – Invocation, Major Gregory J. Brodrick, Command Chaplain, US Army 377th STC. 

8:36 – Welcome and remarks, Stephen J. Watson, Museum President & CEO. 
 
15:50 – Presentation of Commendation Scrolls, Janice Hahn, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. 

22:20 – POW /MIA Ceremony, JROTC Unit, Riverdale Senior High School. 

30:16 – Guest speaker Preston Sharp. 

40:58 – “The Greatest Generation” poem, Dr. John Baye, US Department of Veterans Affairs.

43:35 – Moment of silence, ringing of the Normandy Liberty Bell, and "Taps."
