With the debut of Action Comics #1 in 1938, the Golden Age of Comic Books was born—an era that unfolded alongside World War II. This period introduced some of the most iconic figures in American popular culture, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Captain America, as well as a host of other costumed crimefighters who have since faded from memory. Today, reading a comic book remains a powerful way to connect with the experiences and imaginations of Americans on the Home Front and the front lines during the war. Join Museum Curators Brandon Daake and Ross Patterson as they explore how comic books captured the spirit of the time, inspired readers, and reflected a world at war.

Dinner with a Curator is an evening of dinner and history hosted by The American Sector Restaurant & Bar culinary team and Museum professionals. Guests participate in discussion on a featured topic related to World War II, which is interpreted through the Museum's collection and a theme-inspired three-course dinner paired with beverage specials. Ticket sales end 48 hours prior to the start of the event.
