Through her unforgettable voice and emotionally powerful songs, Edith Piaf became an enduring icon of French music and culture whose works continue to inspire audiences around the world.
In The Voice of France: A Tribute to Edith Piaf, 2025 Stage Door Idol winner Elijah Hartman celebrates Piaf’s life, artistry, and legacy. Spanning her journey from childhood in the years following World War I to her rise to fame in occupied Paris during World War II and beyond, this intimate cabaret explores the music, memories, and moral complexities that shaped her remarkable career.
Backed by a live five-piece band and performing Piaf’s songs in French, Hartman brings warmth, heart, and a deeply personal connection to the chansons that became a source of resilience for the French people and a bridge between generations. Inspired by his beloved grand-père (grandfather) who introduced him to Piaf and his oncle (uncle) who nurtured his lifelong love of the French language and culture, Hartman offers a moving intergenerational tribute to one of France's most iconic voices.
