The National WWII Museum will mark the 78th anniversary of D-Day and 22nd birthday of the Museum on Monday, June 6, 2022, highlighted by the Dr. Hal Baumgarten D-Day Commemoration Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. (CT). Join us for a moving ceremony that highlights the significance of the Invasion at Normandy in the fight to liberate Europe during World War II. During the program, hear from Emma Soames, granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill, as she shares about her mother’s experience on D-Day.
Following the Victory Belles' rendition of Happy Birthday to the Museum at the conclusion of the ceremony, celebrate the Museum’s 22nd birthday with free cupcakes in US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center—first-come, first-served with limited availability.
Later that evening, hear more about Emma Soame’s latest book, Mary Churchill's War: The Wartime Diaries of Churchill's Youngest Daughter. The Orlin Russell Corey Memorial Lecture, in partnership with the Churchill Society of New Orleans, will be in US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center with a reception starting at 5:00 p.m. Learn more and register here.
