In this lecture, Simon will discuss the torpedoing and sinking of the SS Dorchester, as well as the four American chaplains from different denominations who unselfishly sacrificed their own lives to save others. Simon will also present a brief overview on submarines that were built in Wisconsin at Mantiwoc, tested on Lake Michigan, and then barged through the locks at Chicago. From there, they made their way over to and then down the Mississippi River, where they were partially rebuilt and recommissioned in New Orleans before sailing off to war.
