The Museum played host to 27 WWII veterans on July 26 and 27, 2017, courtesy of the Gary Sinise Foundation and American Airlines.
After a spirited welcome at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the veterans traveled by escorted bus caravan to the Sheraton New Orleans for another welcome event attended by Sheraton staff and visitors in town for a Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention.
An evening event at the Museum included remarks by President & CEO Stephen J. Watson, Gary Sinise, and General Robin Rand.
Early the next morning, the veterans attended an exclusive screening of Beyond All Boundaries and were met upon their exit from the Solomon Victory Theater by Museum staff for another cheering welcome. After exploring the exhibits in the Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters pavilion and US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center, our honored guests enjoyed a BB's Stage Door Canteen luncheon and a Victory Belles performance. The afternoon activity was touring the Museum's newest permanent exhibit, The Arsenal of Democracy: The Herman and George R. Brown Salute to the Home Front.
Soaring Valor visits are among the absolute highlights of the Museum calendar. Thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation for making them possible, and special thanks to the visiting veterans for their service.
