Colonel Jimmie Kanaya, 442nd Regimental Combat Team medic, became a prisoner of war in Germany after his family had been put behind barbed wire at home in the States. He went on to be a decorated three-war veteran and friend of The National WWII Museum who passed away November 7, 2019.
It’s no secret that many WWII veterans returned home reticent to discuss their wartime experiences, but for members of the Ghost Army, silence was not a choice—it was a mandate.
The National WWII Museum is seeking the most talented singers from across the region to compete for a grand prize of $1,000. The five-week competition will feature performances of the greatest hits of the war years for local celebrity judges.
