The National WWII Museum presents a new exhibit, "Guests of the Third Reich," which explores life of American POWs in Europe.
The National WWII Museum welcomed a restored P-40 Curtiss Warhawk fighter plane into its growing collection of WWII-era warbirds at an official ceremony today. The aircraft, one of only 32 known remaining in the world, will be displayed in the Museum’s new pavilion, Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters, in the exhibit Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater, when it opens in 2015.
The National WWII Museum is embarking on a major new initiative, this time online, with the release of 150 oral histories and 5,000 wartime images, including rare color photos. Fully searchable, this digital collection forms the nucleus of what will become an ever-expanding repository of fascinating WWII materials accessible to all at ww2online.org.
The National WWII Museum’s first-ever WWII AirPower Expo, in partnership with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), was an unqualified success. More than 10,000 visitors came to the Lakefront Airport over the weekend to climb inside restored planes, including a B-17, C-45, and the world’s only flying B-29. Visitors were also able to speak with the veterans who flew iconic WWII aircraft.
