WWII Veteran, Pioneering Marine, Museum volunteer

Frances Skiba Hoffmann, a WWII veteran and one of the first members of the Marine Corps Women's Reserve, died last week in New Orleans at age 96 of COVID-19. She was a beloved member of our Museum family.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, The National WWII Museum will explore the history and locations of this fateful day throughout an exclusive symposium and educational travel program in Hawaii. Taking place December 1-8, 2016, the program will feature esteemed WWII historians including Rob Citino, PhD, Richard Frank, Donald L. Miller, PhD, Allan Millett, PhD and Jonathan Parshall, along with an exclusive four-part symposium discussing the events leading up to the attack.
 

As Veterans Day nears on November 11, The National WWII Museum is reminding Americans to reach out to veterans and say “Thank You for My Freedom” with the institution’s social media campaign centered around the website www.myveteransday.org. There, users can post videos, photos and messages expressing their gratitude to military veterans of all ages.
