NEW ORLEANS (June 26, 2013) — TripAdvisor®, the world's largest travel site, announced the winners of its Travelers' Choice Attractions awards based on feedback from millions of TripAdvisor travelers. The National WWII Museum, currently ranked #1 in New Orleans attractions, was named a Travelers’ Choice Attraction for 2013.

The National WWII Museum was named the #7 museum in the United States and #14 worldwide for 2013. Other US museums in the top 10 included the National Air and Space Museum, the National Naval Aviation Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

"The highest compliment we can receive is from the visitors themselves," said Dr. Gordon H. "Nick" Mueller, president and chief executive officer of The National WWII Museum. "The Museum portrays the American experience of WWII with world-class exhibits that we hoped would attract the people of America and the world, and they have."

This year has brought unprecedented attendance to the Museum. On Monday, March 11, 2013, the Museum set a new daily attendance record with 3,556 visitors. March 2013 was a record-breaking month where the Museum welcomed 54,198 visitors, a 23 percent increase over the previous high of 44,800 in March 2012. Last month, the Museum beat its own attendance record for the month of May with a total of 42,971 visitors.

Expansion continues at the Museum’s six-acre campus in New Orleans thanks to support from the State of Louisiana and supporters across the nation. Construction is well underway on another new pavilion, Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters, which is slated to open in the summer of 2014.
