NEW ORLEANS (April 7, 2010) – On March 25, 2010, The National World War II Museum held finals for the annual Cox Quiz Bowl. This year’s competition was won by Mandeville High School. Second place went to Brother Martin High School.

The competition began with teams 20 teams from high schools in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Mandeville and Brother Martin advanced to the Championship Round televised live by Cox Cable on Channel 4 in New Orleans and Baton Rouge/Acadiana. This year’s final was also web-streamed live to a world-wide audience. Check your local listings for rebroadcasts of both the preliminary and final rounds.

“These students all showed a remarkable knowledge of and interest in World War II.  In the six years we have held the WWII Quiz Bowl, these are the strongest two teams I have seen,” says Museum Director of Education and Quizmaster Kenneth Hoffman. 

Finalists included, from Mandeville High School, Betsy Bateman, Lane Lore, and Breard Snellings, and from Brother Martin High School, Jay Vega, Cameron Warren, and Sean Moore.  The Mandeville team was coached by Ms. Elena Marina and the Brother Martin team was coached by Dr. Stephen Tucker.
