NEW ORLEANS (May 14, 2010) – The National World War II Museum will celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 15, 2007, with free admission for all veterans. The Museum, in partnership with the Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee, will also host a full day of performances and programs that are open to the public, plus displays and presentations from all service branches.

Coming soon! D-Day anniversary, Museum turns 10 and A Gathering of the Greatest Generation
The National World War II Museum is preparing to commemorate the 66th anniversary of D-Day and celebrate the Museum’s 10th anniversary with a full weekend of events on June 5-6, 2010. The highlight of the weekend will be a special “Roll Call of the States” ceremony honoring the soldiers’ sacrifice. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, visiting veterans or families will be recognized on behalf of all those who served from their state. A representative of each state will recite the number of veterans who served from their state and how many remain today, a reminder of the urgency of preserving their memories.
Other weekend events include military band performances, weapons demonstrations, an exciting display of WWII artifacts, including a Sherman Tank and a Sing-along. Visitors can also experience the recently opened Solomon Victory Theater, featuring Beyond All Boundaries, a 4-D cinematic experience; the Stage Door Canteen, a recreation of a wartime entertainment venue and the American Sector – a Chef John Besh Restaurant.
