The story of the US Eighth Air Force and its exploits over occupied Europe is among the most widely covered in the historiography of World War II. Less well known are the strategic bombing campaigns in the Pacific, including that of the Twentieth Air Force, which targeted the Japanese home islands using the B-29 Superfortress. But bombing operations over such vast distances and in a newly introduced airframe posed unique challenges. Join Samuel Zemurray-Stone Senior Historian John Curatola, PhD, to learn more about the struggles, successes, and consequences of strategic bombing campaigns over Asia and the Pacific.
