The National WWII Museum invites middle and high school educators to join us for a two-part workshop focused on teaching difficult history topics from World War II.
- January 11: Part 1: Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II
- January 25: Part 2: The Holocaust
Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II
Teachers will spend the day exploring the significant role of Black servicemembers and Home Front workers in the fight for “Double Victory” against fascism abroad and racism at home. In addition to touring the newly opened special exhibit Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II, teachers will walk through curricula and museum resources and hear from a special guest speaker.
At the conclusion of each workshop, teachers will walk away with additional content knowledge on the respective topic and best practices to lead and support students in critically examining the past and connecting to the present. Participating teachers will also receive:
- A free field trip to The National WWII Museum for up to 30 students*
- One $50 Amazon gift card for each workshop attended
- Curricula and Museum resources
- Additional resources on each topic
*Part 1 participants only.
Each workshop is free of cost and will include coffee, lunch, and parking in the Museum’s garage.
