Don Bolton is a movie star who can't stand loud noises. To evade the draft, he decides to get married, but falls for a colonel's daughter, Antoinette, known as “Tony.” By mistake, he and his two cronies enlist. In basic training, Don hopes to make a good impression on the fair Antoinette and her father, but his military career is largely slapstick. Will he ever get his corporal's stripes?
See this war comedy directed by David Butler and starring Bob Hope as Don, Dorothy Lamour as Tony, Clarence Kolb as Tony’s father, Colonel Peter Fairbanks, and Eddie Bracken and Lynne Overman as Don’s cronies.

The story of how Bob Hope gave levity and laughter to troops during one of the most brutal conflicts in human history is a crucial component of the history of the war—and a demonstration of how humanity can shine through in the darkest of times. The National WWII Museum is proud to have this program supported by the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation.
