The legacy of New Orleans boatbuilder Andrew Jackson Higgins was celebrated at the Museum in October 2017. In addition to Higgins Industries-related activities throughout the Museum, a focal point was a panel presentation in US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center, moderated by Higgins biographer Jerry Strahan. The Higgins Reunion Day was part of the extensive programming schedule supporting the special exhibit The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II.
