The National WWII Museum is honored to present a special evening featuring a conversation with two veterans of the European Theater, along with documentary screening covering their return to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

Jim Deal was a gunner on a Sherman tank in the 737th Tank Battalion who landed in Normandy on D-plus 6 and served all the way through the European Theater. Harold Frank was with the 357th Regiment of the 90th Infantry Division who landed in Normandy and was then wounded, becoming a POW for the remainder of the war.

Mark Hager traveled with these two WWII veterans on the Museum’s 75th Anniversary of D-Day cruise in 2019 and documented their return, turning his film footage into the documentary The Last Gathering: The 75th Anniversary of D-Day. He also wrote a biography of Harold titled The Last of the 357th Infantry: The Harold Frank Story.

A reception will begin the evening from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., and then the program will start with a conversation with Hager and the two veterans from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The documentary will be screened from 6:30p.m. – 7:30 p.m. followed by a book signing to conclude the evening.

This event is presented as part of The General Raymond E. Mason Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series on World War II.
