The Museum highlights its own talented scholars from The Institute for the Study of War and Democracy, who will discuss many of the critical effects that the attack on Pearl Harbor had on the world, 80 years ago and enduring legacy of December 7 to this day.
The program will feature the following brief presentations:

- Awakening a Sleeping Giant: The US Military Regroups by Kali Martin
- The Home Front: Are We All in This Together? by Steph Hinnershitz, PhD
- Remembering Pearl Harbor: The Continuing Mission of the DPAA on Oahu by Adam Givens, PhD
Jason Dawsey, PhD, is Research Historian at The Institute for the Study of War and Democracy, where he researches the service records of WWII veterans and writes their biographies for family members. He received his PhD in 2013 from the University of Chicago and has taught at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Kali Martin earned a bachelor's degree in International Studies and German at the University of Miami and a master's degree in Military and Public History at the University of New Orleans. She has worked on the Museum’s PT-305 boat and exhibit and has written a guide to conducting research on individual participation in World War II.
Stephanie Hinnershitz received her PhD from the University of Maryland in 2013 and has held various teaching positions at various institutions of higher learning. She has published three books and multiple articles on topics related to Asian American history and the Home Front during World War II.
Adam Givens joined the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy in 2020 as the Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Research Partner Fellow at The National WWII Museum. He earned his PhD from Ohio University and specializes in military history and the history of technology. As a Summer Associate and adjunct at the RAND Corporation, he worked on history-based research projects for the US Army.
