Purpose:

Use this interactive timeline to follow the events of the war (including those preceding it), date by date — starting with Adolf Hitler’s rise to power as leader of Germany’s National Socialist (Nazi) Party in 1921.

Instructions:

Click on a year. A colored box will appear with a date and the details of that date’s event. The colors correspond to the legend in the top right corner of the timeline.
