The National World War II Museum hosts a number of ongoing events, occurring anywhere from twice a month to once a year. Descriptions of some of these recurring programs are below. Check the calendar for specific dates and times and for additional events. All programs are free to the public unless otherwise indicated.

These educational World War II board and miniatures games are open to historical gamers at all levels. Our recreations of WWII battles and campaigns are held close to the anniversary of historic actions. Pre-registration is not needed. For questions, please click here.
Heat of Battle Wargaming Convention
Join hundreds of wargamers as we recreate the battles and campaigns of World War II using board games, miniature figures/reproduction battlefields, and computer games. This annual three-day event takes place every August and lets you command the armies, airplanes, and fleets of the war, while surrounded by actual artifacts of the time. Convention registration includes Museum admission! For questions, click here for more information.
Kids’ Corner
Junior volunteers lead hands-on activities for children on selected weekends. Activities include learning Morse code, coloring propaganda posters, parachute making, face camouflaging, learning Semaphore, planting a Victory Garden, plane spotting, and checkerboard aerial “dog fighting.”
Knit-in at the Museum
Join Gulf Coast area knitters and crocheters for an afternoon of knitting in support of the Museum’s Knit Your Bit campaign. Work on your Knit Your Bit scarf or quilt. Light refreshments provided. If you’re not familiar with the museum’s Knit Your Bit Campaign, click here for details.
Living History Corps
The Museum’s World War II re-enactors, collectively known as the Living History Corps, are local volunteers who enrich the visitor’s Museum experience with their wealth of information and stories. Wearing the uniforms and carrying the equipment of both the Allied and Axis forces, they share their knowledge about the day-to-day lives of military men and women and the broader lessons of World War II.
Lunchbox Lectures
Join us the first and third Wednesday of every month for our Lunchbox Lecture series. Presentations focus on a wide array of World War II related topics and are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring your lunch or just come to enjoy the lecture.
Quiz Nite
Teams of four will compete for World War II knowledge supremacy and great prizes. If you don’t have a team, we will make one for you. Enjoy refreshments and a cash bar. Museum members can participate for $10 and the price for the general public is $20. Seating is limited. Pre-registration is required. The Museum hosts this event twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter.
