National History Day is a national research contest in which students in grades 6–12 create historical projects based on an annual theme. Students select their own local, regional, national, or global topics and explore both primary and secondary sources, then present their findings in original papers, websites, exhibits, performances, or documentaries at regional, state, and national competitions.

6,000 students compete at the national competition each year—an experience they’ll never forget!
