September 13 - 19, 2008
After the success of the D-Day invasion and liberation
of Paris the Allies were ready to continue the march to
Berlin. In an effort to end the war by Christmas the
Allied Command devised Operation Market-Garden: the
Invasion of Holland and crossing of the Rhine River. It
was the largest Allied Airborne operation at the time
and the most costly. Far from being a decisive
masterstroke, it was a disaster—one of the worst Allied
defeats of World War II. Was it bad planning or bad
luck? Join us on Code Name: Operation Market-Garden Tour.
Travel with our team of historians, local experts and
veterans—hear their stories, walk along Hell’s Highway,
stand on the bridges and you decide. Space is limited so
