Donate an Artifact
As you walk through
The National World War II Museum, you see shrapnel-beaten
helmets, poignant letters scribbled at the front
and other personal elements of the war experience.
These artifacts help remind us that the World War
II story is one of people, as well as battles. These
artifacts are enormously important in helping to
bring the history to life, and the museum welcomes
their donation.
Artifact Information:
It is important for the museum to learn as much
as possible about the history behind all artifacts
accepted for the collections. Artifacts from soldiers,
sailors, marines, WACS, WAVES and home front participants
are all appropriate, as long as the artifacts are
personal items used, carried or worn during combat
or daily service and support work.
Examples include:
- Navy and Marine Corps dungarees, Army fatigues
- Mess Kits, canteens, helmets, combat and service
boots and shoes
- Diaries, letters and scrapbooks
From the Home Front
we seek:
- War production related memorabilia, such as plant
identification badges, tools, tool boxes, photos of
war plants
- War Bond, USO, American Red Cross, Civil Defense
memorabilia
- Patriotic items, such as window service flags, sock
boxes, Christmas boxes, jewelry, posters
