FAMILY WORKSHOPS:
About the Workshops
The Education Department offers family workshops throughout the year to encourage kids and their families to explore the life and lessons of WWII. They are designed as fun and educational for children aged 8-12 and their parents or guardians. Get ready for hands-on exploration of artifacts, arts-and-crafts activities, teamwork exercises, and physical and mental challenges.
One adult per three children is required. Regular Museum admission covers the cost of workshop registration. Registration in advance is required and space is limited. Please call 504-528-1944 x 229 for more information or to register.

WWII Art Workshop

Put on your artist smocks! Participants will explore well-known images, posters, and artwork from WWII. Through creating a script and acting out a work of art, participants will have fun and gain a deeper understanding of the piece’s significance and meaning.
Cooking for Victory
Saturday, November 17, 2012
10:00 am – 11:30 am
Many of our strongest memories are centered on food. The emotions, fears, limitations, and excitement of the Home Front made buying and preparing food a challenging experience. Learn how families on the Home Front shopped for supplies to make their favorite recipes, and then prepare a recipe yourself.
