Floor West - Prelude to War through Home of
the Higgins Boats
Start your exploration of WWII in 1939. The
United States has only the 18th largest army
in the world, while Germany, Japan, and Italy
are on the Road to War. As war comes to America,
enlist in the Armed Forces, joining the effort
on the Home Front, and build a Higgins boat
on the bayou. Listen to the voices of those
who were there and remember - "The fellow
who relaxes is helping the Axis!" |
2nd
Floor East - The D-Day Invasions in the Pacific
Photographs, electronic maps, dioramas, and
artifacts, both rare and commonplace, will
bring the enormity of the Pacific War to life.
Personal accounts of war experiences from
veterans and civilians who were there explore
the war's humanity and inhumanity. Come to
the Museum to honor our Pacific veterans and
to explore a different kind of war. |
