11:00 am - 12:00 pm Presentation of Colonel Jefferson DeBlanc’s Medal of Honor to The National WWII Museum
On the 65th anniversary of the heroic actions that earned Colonel DeBlanc the Medal of Honor, the DeBlanc family will present that medal to the The National World War II Museum as part of a special tribute ceremony. Martin K.A. Morgan, the Museum’s Historian in Residence, will speak on the heroic actions of Colonel DeBlanc which led to his being awarded the Medal of Honor. Members of the DeBlanc Family, including his son, Father Jefferson DeBlanc, will offer thoughts and reflections on his life. Dr. Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller, President and CEO of the Museum, will accept the medal on behalf of the Museum. The public is invited to join the Museum and the DeBlanc family and friends in paying tribute to Colonel DeBlanc and to witness the presentation of this very rare artifact to the Museum.
