Hear it from the Heroes
Memory Hall at International Conference on WWII presents first-hand accounts from the men and women who won “The War That Changed the World”

NEW ORLEANS, October 24, 2006: A highlight of The National World War II Museum’s International Conference on WWII will be Memory Hall, the opportunity to hear the personal experiences of men and women on the battlefront and on the home front.

Fourteen panel discussions from November 16 to 18 will illuminate many of the most interesting and lesser-known aspects of the war years. Among the participants are veterans of Pearl Harbor and Normandy, Native American Code Talkers, “Rosie the Riveter” workers, Tuskeegee Airmen, prisoners of war, military nurses, Holocaust survivors and other victims of racism and discrimination, resistance fighters, and even German and Japanese pilots. Memory Hall is underwritten by The Brown Foundation, Inc., Houston.

“This will be a remarkable and unique experience for all who attend,” noted Museum President and CEO Dr. Gordon “Nick” Mueller. “These individuals were eye witnesses to history and their perspectives on the lessons of WWII are priceless. Programs like Memory Hall are what make The National WWII Museum and this Conference so special.” Memory Hall will run Thursday, November 16 through Saturday, November 18.

There is no charge to attend Memory Hall sessions, but pre-registration is required. Registration is available on line at the Conference website, www.ww2conference.org or by telephone at 800-258-8830 or 504-280-6680. Complete schedules for the Memory Hall sessions and the rest of the Conference also are available on the website.

Reservations are still available for special events during the International Conference on WWII: the November 16 banquet with award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns and a preview of his new WWII documentary; the November 17 banquet and keynote address by the James Bradley, author of “Flags of our Fathers;” the November 18 banquet and keynote address by The Honorable Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State; the November 18 USO Show featuring Deacon John and his Duke Ellington Orchestra; and the November 19 Sunday Brunch and discussion on “Cooking in the War Years” with Joanne Lamb Hayes. A limited number of reservations are still available for the four-day All Access Complete Conference Package.
