The
National World War II Museum to offer discounted
admission to Louisiana residents
‘Stars & Stripes
Summer’ to feature special weekend programs, swing
dancing
NEW ORLEANS (June 20, 2007) – This summer, Louisiana
residents can experience The National World War II
Museum in New Orleans for less during its special “Stars
& Stripes Summer” discounted admission promotion, June
30-September 2. In addition to the reduced ticket
prices, the Museum is presenting exciting weekend
programs each Saturday and Sunday that are free with
admission.
The Museum is offering Louisiana residents with a valid
state I.D. $4.00 off regular adult admission, and $2.00
off admission for seniors 65-and-over and children.
Museum members, active military in uniform and children
younger than five are always admitted free.
Interesting and entertaining activities in the coming
weeks will include lectures, hands-on children’s
programming, and demonstrations on Saturdays, and the
ever popular “Sunday Swing” concert series will close
out each weekend.
“Stars & Strips Summer” will kick off with a
meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the beloved
children’s book icons Curious George and the Man in the
Yellow Hat during the first weekend. Free American flags
also will be distributed to visitors during the opening
weekend and also on July 4, courtesy of Capital One.
The “Sunday Swing” afternoon concert series, which
begins Sunday, July 1, will feature free swing dance
lessons and live band performances including: Lionel
Ferbos and the Palm Court Jazz Band; The Pfister
Sisters; New Orleans Jazz Vipers; Ingrid Lucia and the
Flying Neutrinos; and Wardell Quezergue and His Slammin’
Big Band. A complete listing, along with specific

“Stars & Stripes Summer” discounts and programming will
continue through Labor Day weekend, and visitors to the
Museum also will have the opportunity to view the
special exhibition, “Incredible Victory: The Battle of
Midway,” a fascinating look at the most pivotal naval
battle in the Pacific theatre of the War. It will remain
on display through October 28.
The National World War II Museum in New Orleans is
designated by Congress as America’s official National
World War II Museum. It interprets the American
Experience during the World War II years and celebrates
the American Spirit, the teamwork, optimism, courage and
sacrifice of the men and women who won World War II and
promotes the exploration and expression of these values
by future generations.
