Public Symposium: Lessons for Rebuilding New Orleans
and the Gulf Coast: The Marshall Plan and the Reconstruction
of Postwar Europe.
Friday, April 21 from 11am to
4pm at the National D-Day Museum.
After WWII, the U.S. created
The Marshall Plan, a visionary program to rebuild
and restore the war-town cities and economy of Europe
with a combination of emergency aid, creative financing
and exchange programs.
Renowned international scholars
and members of the LA. Recovery Authority discuss
the Marshall Plan as a model for today. The symposium
is free and open to the public but pre-registration
is required by April 17.
A special
exhibition on The Marshall Plan, loaned by the U.S.
Dept. of State, will premiere the same day and will
remain on view through May 20. It is all part of
the opening celebration of E.J. Ourso Discovery Hall,
the Museum’s new education and exhibition center.
